HRANA News Agency – Aso Rostami, civil rights activist who is imprisoned in ward number 8 of Evin prison, is suffering from lung infection and bleeding, but has not received proper medical treatment yet.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), after two weeks of coughing, from Wednesday July 1st this prisoner has blood in his coughs and he is in a very bad condition.
A close source to this prisoner told HRANA’s reporter, “breathing problem of this prisoner is increasing, and since June 15 he is using oxygen and there is blood in his coughs. When the prison’s physician visited him after two weeks and Aso requested for being transferred to a hospital, he responded: ‘I decide about it, not you’ “.
Aso Rostami is a 28-year-old civil rights activist who was arrested after the gathering in front of UN office which was held for showing solidarity with Kobani, on October 8, 2014 along with other activists, and after interrogation process, was transferred to ward number 8 of Evin.
He has been sentenced to 7 years in prison on charges of propaganda against the regime, collusion against the national security and insulting supreme leader. His trial, along with three others in branch number 28 of the revolutionary court with chief judge Moghiseh took only 15 minutes, and these defendants received in total of 18 years in prison.
Other allegations against this prisoner are, cyber activities and criticizing human rights condition of Iran, sympathy with political prisoner’s families and death row prisoners, attending the rally in solidarity with Kobani, sympathy with the families of 2009 victims and having contact with human rights activist.
Aso Rostami is currently in the 9th months of detention, and kept in ward number 8 of Evin prison and waiting for the verdict of the appeal court.
