Ayatollah Kazemeini Boroujerdi in Critical Health Condition in Evin Prison
HRANA News Agency – Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi, a prisoner of conscience in Evin prison has been transferred to the prison’s clinic twice on November 5 and 6, due to “complications of bone pain” and has been returned to the ward without proper treatment. The dissident cleric has faced various medical problems and has been deprived of proper treatment and is kept in the special ward for clergies in Evin prison in the past 10 years.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi, a prisoner of conscience in Evin prison has been transferred to the prison’s clinic twice on November 5 and 6 due to “complications of bone pain” and has been returned to the special ward for clergies without proper treatment.
A close relative of Ayatollah Boroujerdi in an interview told HRANA’s reporter: “Due to lack of proper medical treatment in the clinic of Evin prison, on November 5 just three pain vials had been injected which were unsuccessful. After his health condition was worsened, he again was transferred to the clinic on November 6 and just like the pervious day, the injection had no effect in reducing his pain. The prison doctor told that Mr.Boroujerdi suffered a herniated disc. Mr. Boroujerdi who considers his transfer to the prison clinic because of incompetent medical treatment as a practical satire, during a letter called the Special Clerical Courts to be hospitalized in an equipped hospital out of prison and directly considered them as responsible for his life, but unfortunately the prison authorities and the Special Clerical Court refused to do it.”
The source also added: “Mr. Boroujerdi’s physical condition because of bone complications is in such a way that his family was shocked to see his condition on November 5. This prisoner of conscience has been deprived of proper treatment for ten years while he has been overwhelmingly tortured during interrogations. He suffers from various diseases such as heart disease and respiratory and severe osteoporosis and bone complications for months, so that the waist and his legs were deformed and he barely is able to walk; however, no effective action has been taken by prison officials. The representatives and the family of Mr. Kazemeini Boroujerdi called on all human rights organizations to help and address the situation of this prisoner of conscience.”
Ayatollah Boroujerdi has been arrested in 1995, 2000 and 2005, and sentenced in 2009 to 11 years in prison.
He was kept in Yazd prison for a year and then was transferred to Evin prison.
HRANA had reported in April 2016 that a new case had been opened for this prisoners of conscience.
A close relative of Ayatollah Boroujerdi in an interview with our reporter said: “Recently he has been summoned to the court and was told that a new case under the title of apostasy had been opened for him to which he responded that he did not accept the charges and did not attend the trial. These (allegations) are all only oral and he has not received any warrant.”
