Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekonam Arrested and Returned to Prison

HRANA News Agency – Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekonam, dissident cleric, was arrested again by the security forces at his home and was transferred to Saheli prison in Qom.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekonam, was arrested again by the security forces at his home and was transferred to Saheli prison in Qom.
A close source to Mr. Nekonam, by announcing this news told HRANA’s reporter: “Mr. Nekonam was released from prison on condition of changing his political position, but he was taken to prison again as he did not change his political manner and because of the insistence on his positions including sending two letters to Ali Larijani, parliamentary speaker, and Mohammad Javad Larijani, the head of the Human Rights Council of the Judiciary.”
Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekonam, Shia Marja and dissident cleric, was held in Qom prison with a sentence of 5 years imprisonment. After about 18 months of imprisonment on June 23, he was transferred from prison to his home.
In the previous reports it had not been cleared that he was out of prison on furlough or parole. In such a short time of freedom, security forces were monitoring the commuting to his house and imposed illegal restrictions on his ties and calls, although he was not in the prison.
Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekonam, one of teachers of Madrasah in Qom, was arrested in the wake of a critical speech and was sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Special Court for the Clergy.
