HRANA News Agency – Arash Sadeghi, imprisoned civil rights activist, who had ended his hunger strike on its 72nd day after his wife was sent to furlough, was not transferred to the hospital, despite the deterioration of his physical condition, and he is still being held in the prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Arash Sadeghi was transferred to prison infirmary due to sever sickness, vomiting blood, and stomachache.
This prisoner was returned to the ward, after getting anti-nausea and painkillers, but he was not sent to the hospital.
Arash Sadeghi who has recently got lung infection and inflammation and ongoing coughs, is suffering from problems such as: severe hypotension, severe weight loss and emaciation, palpitations and dangerous heart situation, shortness of breath, nausea, coughing up blood clots and sometimes blood, blood viscosity and high risk of cardiac arrest, risk of coma due to high blood sugar, kidney problems, as well as the possibility of gastric ulcer and the risk of stomach bleeding. Arash Sadeghi slashes saying the words, and suffers from scaling skin, insomnia, all of which are the effects of the hunger strike.
HRANA had reported previously that the kidney and intestines tests’ results show that Arash’s kidneys has been damaged, right kidney 70% and left kidney 20%, due to water shortage. According to the doctor, the right kidney won’t work in the future, as it used to.
The intestine tests also indicate that he has got intestinal adhesion, and doctors said that if that condition would continue, there was a risk of bleeding.
According to the forensic report after examining Arash Sadeghi, there is a risk of coma and even his death.
It should be noted, Arash Sadeghi who is held in Hall 10 of ward 8 of Evin prison, after his wife, Golrokh Ebrahimi Irai, was arrested to serve her six-year prison sentence, wrote a letter and announced her arrest as an illegal action and went on hunger strike.
This political prisoner later on, in an open letter mentioned the documented issues of violated rights in the process of arrest, interrogation, trial and sentencing, and then implementing this verdict, in his wife’s case.
Golrokh Ebrahimi Irai was transferred to Evin prison by the security forces without receiving written summons.
