At Least 150 Protesters Have Been Arrested in Mahabad

HRANA News Agency – Local sources reported the arrest of 150 citizens of Mahabad during recent protests.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), about 150 people were detained during the protests last week in Mahabad, and many of them are still in detention and there is no news about them.

A local source in this regard, told HRANA’s reporter: “Some of them were released earlier and the rest are kept. Some of the detainees were transferred to Intelligence office in Mahabad right after they arrest, and people whose allegations were considered more serious were transferred to Urmia Intelligence office.”

HRANA’s resources, release the name of five detainees as follow; Ali Ashk Talkh, Hossein Amini, Yusef Frzadyan, Karim Ebraham and Akam A’yab.

So far, there has not been any official announcement from judicial authorities about the fate of the detainees of the recent protests in Mahabad.

Last week, after the suspicious death of a young girl named Farinaz Khosravani, Mahabad became stage of street protests by the people that turned violent and resulted in a large number of injuries and detentions.
