Majid Asadi Arrested and Transferred to Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Majid Asadi, former student activist and political prisoner, was arrested violently in his house and transferred to Evin prison by security forces.

According to the report of the Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Majid Asadi was arrested in his house in Karaj at 10 pm on February 18, 2017.

A source close to Asadi family told HRANA’s reporter: “Security forces entered the house by force. On the arrival, Majid’s father was beaten and his leg was damaged badly. This is while Majid’s father is under treatment for his lung cancer and just recently had been discharged from hospital.”

The source continued: “Majid Asadi was arrested along with confiscation of his personal belongings. No explanation of the charges against him has been given to him or his family.”

At the end, the source said: “Due to previous long-term imprisonment and poor conditions of prison, Majid suffers from different diseases such as acute gastrointestinal inflammatory disease, and in the time of arrest, he was under the supervision of a doctor.”

It should be noted that Majis Asadi, graduated in economics at the University of Allameh, previously had been arrested on July 3, 2008, and had been held in solitary confinement for 87 days in ward
209. The lower court ruling was communicated to him in May 2010 that he had been sentenced to four years imprisonment.

He was summoned to prison for enduring his sentence, although he had made an appeal, and while the final decision had not been delivered to him, and he endured his sentence of imprisonment from October 5, 2011 till June 7, 2016.
