Mohammad Ali Taheri’s Lawyer Hopes “He’ll Be Released Soon.”

HRANA News Agency – Mahmood Alizadeh, Mohammad Ali Taheri’s lawyer stated that the charge of belligerent (insulting the profit and corruption on earth) was dropped from his client’s case, and expressed his hope that he would be released after the court session in about a month.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Mohammad Ali Taheri’s lawyer said that the belligerent charge was dropped from his case.

Mahmood Alizadeh Tabatabaei explained, “After the Supreme Court dropped the belligerent charge, the case was sent to the court branch and then to a court in Evin, for more investigations. After the investigations no evidence was found to support the allegation and the charge was dropped because of the new law passed in 2013.”

He continued, “We reviewed the case. No evidence is submitted to support belligerent (insulting the profit) and this charge was dropped. The only charge that is left is intervention in medical treatments which was processed before but recently is claimed to have some complainants”.

This lawyer said, “We are waiting for the court session to see who are these complainants and which documents they have to support this allegation”.

Mr. Alizadeh finally stated that Mr. Taheri’s case was finished and there was no reason for his arrest and expressed his hope by saying “considering that he has served 5 years, no more sentence will be issued by the court and even if it happens, the Supreme Court will drop that. I am positive that after the court session in coming month, he will be released soon”.

Mohammad Ali Taheri, the founder of Halgheh theosophy, was arrested on May 4, 2011 and charged with sacrilege, illegal intervention in medical treatment, indecent sexual behavior, illegal usage of Engineer and Doctor prefixes, and writing articles and books propagating the sins. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison, 74 lashes and 9000 million IRR fine.

Corruption on earth by gaining supporters was another allegation against him.

Mr. Taheri has served his five years, but due to the new case, he has not been released yet.
