Mohammad Amin Abdullahi Under The Pressure Of Authorities In Birjand Prison

HRANA News Agency – Mohammad Amin Abdullahi, political prisoner, is experiencing a tough time in Birjand prison. Mr. ABdullahi is qualified to have parole due to the fact that he has served 10 out 18 years of his sentence.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Mohammad Amin Abdullahi, has been transferred to the general ward, after being kept for a long time in the quarantine ward of Birjand prison, where most of the inmates are very old and ill. Close sources to him has described the condition of ward number 107 as “without primitive facilities”.

Birjand prison does not have a separated ward for political prisoners and he is kept among other prisoners.

Mohammad Amin Abdullahi is from Boukan city, and had been transferred from Tabas to Birjand prison, following his protest. The authorities of Birjand prison has rejected the request for furlough, parole and transfer to a prison close to his native city.

This prisoner was kept in the quarantine ward for more than two months and after protesting and going on hunger strike was transferred to the general ward.

Mohammad Amin Abdullahi is married and has one child. His family is living in Boukan in East Azerbaijan province and due to the long distance between Birjand and Boukan and also financial difficulties they cannot afford to visit him.

Even though after serving more than half of the sentence, this prisoner could be released under parole, but the judiciary authorities have rejected this request for unknown reasons.

Mohammad Amin Abdullahi, the residence of Boukan, was arrested in autumn 2005, and after 15 months in limbo, he was charged with belligerent by cooperation with Kurdish parties and propaganda against the regime, in the revolutionary court of Buoukan and sentenced to 18 years in prison and exile to Tabas. He was transferred to Birjand after spending some times in Uremia, Mahabad and Tabas prisons. He is now serving his 11th year in prison.

Mohammad Abdullahi, the brother of this prisoner has been sentenced to death for the same charges and is being kept in Uremia prison.
