No Hot Watter in Urmia Central Prison
HRANA News Agency – It is more than two months that the hot water is cut off for all wards of Urmia Central Prison and the prisoners have been using hot water which was boiled in the pot, for the bathroom. The prisoners’ frequent follow-ups have had no results and the authorities’ last answer mentions the lack of funds for “replacing the prison’s boiler”.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), since early November, the hot water is cut off for all wards of Urmia Central Prison and prisoners take shower by “boiling water in pots”.
A source close to the families of prisoners has emphasized that this problem persists, and told HRANA’s reporter: “The authorities’ last answer was that there was no budget for ‘replacing the prison’s boiler.’”
The informed source continued: “Prison officials have said that the boiler was not enough for 500 prisoners”.
