Omid Alishenas Released On The Bail

HRANA News Agency – Omid Alishenas, imprisoned civil rights activist was released on the bail from Evin prison after 16 months of detention.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), branch number 36 of the appeal court of Tehran, with chief judge Zargar, accepted the bail, and this prisoner was released on the bail of 700 million thomans.
This civil and human rights activist has been released till the appeal court verdict would be issued and the sentence would be executed.
Omid Alishenas was arrested on September 4, 2014, and transferred to ward 2-A of Evin prison, which is controlled by the IRGC. Although a bail of 100 million thomans had been issued for him, the court and the prosecutor’s office eventually did not accept the bail for unknown reasons and he was transferred to ward number 8 for continuation of the interrogations.
Mr. Alishenas has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for peaceful activities, on charge of propaganda against the regime and collusion against the national security and insulting the supreme leader. Judge Moghiseh in branch number 28 of the revolutionary court sentenced him and three other civil rights activist in less than 15 minutes to 38 years of prison.
Activities in the social media and sharing criticizing posts about the condition of human rights, sympathy with the families of political and death row prisoners, attendance in a gathering in solidarity with Kobani, sympathy with the families of 2009 incidents and being in contact with human rights activists are the accusations that this activist has been charged based on them.
Omid Alishenas’s case has been sent to the appeal court branch number 36 of Tehran with chief judge Zargar, but the trial has not been scheduled yet.
This prisoner was deprived of visiting his family, due to denying to wear the prison’s uniform, because he considered it illegal.
Simin Ayvaz Zadeh, the mother of Omid Alishenas consistently was demanding his son’s freedom and used different mediums like writing letter, interview, civil protest which even ended to her arrest and transfer to Gharchak prison of Varamin. She was released on November 29 on the bail.
