HRANA News Agency – Political prisoners who wanted to meet their families, attended the hall with barefoot as a sign of protest, in the wake of the ongoing persecution of prison security officials to adopt disrespectful and uncommon manners of body searches of prisoners and their families as well as prohibition of the use of shoes by political prisoners. The protest of prisoners led to delays in weekly visits.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), as protest to the pressure and restrictions on political prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison such disrespectful and uncommon manners of body searches of prisoners and their families and prohibition of the use of shoes in hall 12 and limiting the movement of political prisoners in this hall, the prisoners refused to wear slippers while going to meet their families on June 8.
The protest of prisoners led to several hours of delays in weekly visits.
In response to the political prisoners’ families the prosecutor has said that Mohmmad Mardani, head of Rajai Shahr Prison, had ordered the new rules.
A source close to political prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison in explaining the events said to HRANA’s reporter: “On June 8, after the families were prevented from visiting prisoners for several hours, prison deputy, Darush Amiryan who is one of those responsible for these cases by covering up the orders of Mohammed Mardani, said these were the prison authorities’ commands.”
He said: “The pressures and constraints increased after the appointment of Mohammad Reza Shojaei, former employee of the Office of Intelligence to the presidency. In ways which after his presence by his command, a lieutenant named Hasani along with two soldiers were responsible for limiting prisoners in Hall 12. So that visiting prisoners was not possible for some hours.”
