HRANA News Agency – Dr. Ismail Afkhami, one of the six Turkish (Azeri) activists, who had been detained in Ardabil about a month ago, was released on the bail from Tabriz Central Prison on June 8. Yones Rahimi, another detainee of this group had already been released a few days ago.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Dr. Ismail Afkhami, one of the six Turkish (Azeri) activists, who had been detained in Ardabil about a month ago, was released on the bail from Tabriz Central Prison on June 8.
A source close to the detainees by announcing the news told HRANA’s reporter: “On June 8, Dr. Ismail Afkhami was released on the bail of 3 billion IRR from Tabriz Central Prison. Also Mr. Yones Rahimi, who had been arrested in connection with the same case was released a few days ago, though the conditions of his freedom are unknown. ”
HRANA in a report on the status of the six activists from Ardabil after a month of detention had announced that about a month ago, Habib Sassanian (Yakamuz) along with a number of other activists named Ismail Afkhami, Mehdi Javadzadeh, Hamid Saghati, Babak Avand and Yones Rahimi, who worked on the issue of Ghare Bagh and Armenia were all arrested and taken to an unknown location.
Dr. Ismail Fakhimi was transferred to the Central Prison of Tabriz on June 3.
Habib Sassanian, the activist from Ardabil in a phone call with his family informed them that he was being held in Tabriz Intelligence Ministry.
So far, the fate of the other detainees is not known and it is said the families of the detainees are under pressure not to speak to the media.
