Prison Authorities Prevent Mohammad Reza Nekounam from Being Transferred to the Hospital

HRANA News Agency – Transferring dissident cleric, Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekounam, prisoner in the Saheli prison in Qom, to the hospital is being still prevented. This is while the pressures on this writer and lecturer continue.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), despite poor health status, imprisoned cleric Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekounam who is suffering from several diseases is held in Saheli prison in Qom and is not being sent to medical centers.
A close source to Mr. Nekounam with announcing this news in an interview with HRANA’s reporter, said: “The SCC refrains from sending him to a hospital outside the prison. In addition to his diseases, Ayatollah Nekounam could be released on parole because of being older than 68 years old.”
Mr. Nekounam’s major medical problems is because of a stroke, including high blood sugar, physical inactivity of right side of his body, and his eyes, as well as conditions of the prison that is lack of the necessary facilities for a prisoner. Currently, one of his major medical problems is irregular blood pressure that is between 170 and 240.
This author who has been imprisoned since about 17 months ago has been prevented of proper medical treatment so far.
The continued: “Now all his offices have been sealed and all his books have been collected. SCC will do their utmost to somehow eliminate him.”
yatollah Mohammad Reza Nekonam, Shiite Marja and dissident cleric, was held in Qom prison with a sentence of 5 years imprisonment. After about 18 months imprisonment on June 23, he was transferred from prison to his home, but after a short time he was arrested at his home, on July 7, and again was transferred to Saheli prison in Qom.
In the previous reports it had not been clear if he was out of prison for furlough or on parole.
In such a short time of freedom, security forces were monitoring the commuting to the house of Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekonam and imposed illegal restrictions on his ties and calls, although he was not in the prison.
Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekonam, one of teachers of Madrasah in Qom, was arrested in the wake of a critical speech and was sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Special Court for the Clergy.
