Ramin Hossein Panahi Allowed to Meet His Mother after 4 Months

HRANA News Agency – Ramin Hossein Panahi’s mother was allowed to meet him shortly at an unknown location following continuous pursuit after more than four months of the arrest of Ramin Hossein Panahi by the IRGC forces.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), no news of Ramin Hussein Panahi’s fate was given to his family during the past four months since his arrest by the IRGC forces in Sanandaj.

Mr. Hossein Panahi’s family witnessed the arrest and conviction of a number of other relatives and Afshin Hossein Panahi, the brother of the prisoner during the time after Ramin was arrested.

Continuous pursuit of family had not had any results in finding out about the fate of Ramin so far. It was even reported that the efforts of the elderly parents of this prisoner to protest in front of Sanandaj Intelligence ministry resulted in their short-term arrests.

Eventually Ramin Hussein Panahi’s mother succeeded to visit her son, for the first time after since October 31, 2017.

Amjad Hussein Panahi, brother of Ramin and Afshin confirmed the news in a conversation with HRANA’s reporter and said, “my mother was called from the Intelligence Ministry and was told to go to Tehran’s Terminals in Sanandaj on October 31, 2017, and then she would be taken to an unknown location by a car to meet our brother Ramin.”

Mr. Hossein Panahi added, “According to my mother, there were cameras at this place that were taken away after protests by Ramin and dismissing the meeting in front of cameras and eventually my mother met him. Fortunately, Ramin is healthy, according to my mother.”

It should be recalled that IRGC forces shot and arrested a political activist named Ramin Hossein Panahi near Sanandaj on June 22, 2017.

After the incident in Sanandaj on Friday, June 22, 2017, security forces arrested some of his relatives, including Zibar, Ahmad and Afshin Hossein Panahi at their houses on the same day.

The aast hearing of Ahmad, Zibar and Afshin Hossein Panahi was held at Branch 1 of Sanandaj Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Saeedi on October 25, 2017. At this hearing, Zibar and Ahmad Hussein Panahi were sentenced to 6 and 5 years imprisonment. Afshin Hossein Panahi, another defendant, was sentenced to eight and a half years imprisonment.

Earlier, Amjad Hussein Panahi, brother of Ramin and Afshin had told HRANA’s reporter that, “all three were accused of propaganda against the regime and cooperating with anti-regime groups through participation in the celebration of the New Year’s Eve.”

He told HRANA’s reporter that, “Afshin was arrested from the beginning without any specific charges, and he was tried only to frighten the family to not follow Ramin’s case.”

Ahmad and Zibar Hossein Panahi were released on the bail from detention after a month in prison on July 27, 2017. They had left the court after trail but Afshin Hossein Panahi was returned to Sanandaj Central Prison.
