Saeid Hoseinzadeh Threated to Go on a Dry Hunger Strike

HRANA News Agency – Saeid Hoseinzadeh, imprisoned civil rights activist who is on hunger strike, wrote a letter to announce that, in case of failure to address his demands in the coming days, he will go on dry hunger strike and will stop drinking water. He wrote that he did not know that activity for the charities and supporting labor children was a criminal offense and would face imprisonment.
According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), this social activist who suffers from heart disease, gastrointestinal and joints problems, has gone on hunger strike since 15 days ago with the demands of “medical furlough or freedom due to the order of inability to endure the punishment” or stopping the moratorium, and said in his letter that he was written on the 9th day of hunger strike, “he has faced 6 kg of weight loss, drop of blood pressure and palpitations”.
Mr. Hosseinzadeh has written in this letter that, during the time of hunger strike he has got   gastrointestinal problems and risk of kidney failure, his medicine has been stopped and he believes that the judicial authorities and Revolutionary Guards intelligence agents have the responsibilities, who “attempted to arrest, interrogate and inquisition and do the documentation for him without any legal definition or legal order and have stopped his freedom with no authority”.
This prisoner also demanded the implementation of Article 502 of Procedure Code, which is as follows: “When the sentenced person is physical ill or mentally suffering and enduring the sentence will exacerbate the disease or delay in recovery, the judge of law enforcement office will delay the sentence with forensic agreement until the recovery and if there is no chance of recovery, the judge of law enforcement office will refer the prisoner to the sentence issuer, along with confirmation of the illness and giving reason that illness is a barrier to execute the sentence, for a final possible alternative sentence, considering the kind of illnesses.”
He has announced his hunger strike from February 19th February, and judicial supervisor officials in prison have told his family that they were studying and dealing with his condition.
This civil activist who has gone on hunger strike to protest against the condition of his case and his condition in prison, had wrote in a letter that he was suffering from different diseases such as rheumatism, asthma, heart disease, stomach infection and ulcer and bleeding, which he has got during his detention.
He also wrote that during the transfer to hospital he has been targeted to “sabotage and unusual behaviors” which has led to the deterioration of the disease.
Saeid Hosseinzadeh was transferred to “Imam Khomeini hospital”, on 16th February, and doctors have confirmed that the rheumatoid arthritis has spread to his heart, which required continuous treatment and this prisoner would not be able tolerate the continuation of this situation in prison.
Earlier, forensic in Evin prison had confirmed that this social activist was not able to endure the punishment.
Furthermore, despite legal proceedings to challenge the case, his lawyer has not been able to study the case.
This civil rights activist who was on hunger strike in protest to hold on his case, had written in a letter that he was suffering from different diseases like asthma, arthritis, heart and gastrointestinal diseases, which are the consequences of detention and imprisonment.
He also mentioned that his diseases were progressing due to delays in being sent to the hospital.
Previously it was on news that Saied Hossainzadeh, prisoner of ward number 7 of Evin prison, had stomach bleeding and was transferred to the hospital. In the hospital it was found out that the bleeding was the side effect of the medicine that he was taking for his arthritis.
Physicians has warned him that ignoring the medical treatment would result in more severe problems.
Saeid Hossainzadeh, was arrested in autumn 2015 in his house by the revolutionary guards and was transferred to the solitary confinement of ward 2-A in Evin prison.
He was charged with propaganda against the regime in branch number 28 of the revolutionary court by judge Moghiseh and sentenced to 7 years in prison. This sentence was confirmed by judge Zargar in branch number 36 of the appeal court. This is while the accumulation of these two charges could not be more than 4 years.
Saeid Hossainzadeh is currently serving the second year of his sentence in ward number 7 of Evin prison.
