Soheil Arabi Beaten by IRGC Forces in Ward 2-A

HRANA News Agency – Soheil Arabi, prisoner of conscience who is serving the fourth year of his sentence in Evin prison, was transferred to ward 2-A in Evin prison at the same time as his wife was arrested. During his presence in the IRGC ward, this prisoner has been beaten continuously and has been suffering from chronic headaches, particularly as a result of blows by the interrogation team, which has caused him more vision problems in the past few days.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Soheil Arabi, prisoner of conscience who is serving the fourth year of his sentence in Evin prison, was informed about his wife’s detention on July 31, 2017.
Mr. Arabi has started the hunger strike to protest against this since August 1, 2017. Shortly thereafter, he was transferred to ward 2-A of the revolutionary guards located in Evin Prison, where his wife was being also kept.
It has been reported that the officers have repeatedly beaten Soheil Arabi during the interrogations. Thisincludes injury and hit to his head in different shapes.
His glasses have also broken while beatings hat caused more vision problems.
Mr. Arabi was returned to his former ward after eight days and his wife was released on the bail and also the prisoner ended his hunger strike.
However, the prisoner suffered from dizziness, severe headaches, and constant nausea resulting from a head injury, and the absence of glasses also exacerbated these problems since returning to the general ward 7.
Soheil Arabi has requested medical examination since his return to the general ward, however, so far no serious action has been taken to check his medical condition.
Sohail Arabi was born on August 22, 1985. He is married and has a daughter.
Mr. Arabi and his wife were self-employed and working in their photography studio. The IRGC forces of Sarallah Base arrested him on December 7, 2013 at his house and transferred him to ward 2-A of Evin prison.
After two months interrogation by the revolutionary guards, he was tried in branch number 12 of Media and Culture Court and charged with propaganda against the regime, insulting founder of Islamic Republic, insulting officials and sacrilege, and then transferred to ward 350 of Evin prison.
In June 2014, he was tried for Sab-e-Nabi (insulting the prophet) in branch number 71 of criminal court of province, by judge Khorasani, and according to lawsuit and request of prosecutor’s representative and by the sentence of the court, he was sentenced to death.
Mr. Arabi was charged with Sab-e-Nabi based on his posts on a Facebook page and his death sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court in December 2014. But after the efforts made by his lawyers, his lawsuit went to the Supreme Court and was treated again in branch number 34 and he was saved from execution.
Previously, following the lies published by three web sites of Farsnews, Jahannews, and Dana, against Sohail Arabi, and complains of Sohail Arabi’s lawyer, prosecutor ordered investigations.
This sentence is issued, while according to law, when defendant claim that his statements were by negligence, mistake, or while he/she was drunk or during anger or without paying attention to the meaning or quoting, then it will not Sab-e-Nabi.
This prisoner of conscientious is currently in ward 7 of Evin prison.
