Sunni Cleric Under the Pressure of Intelligence Ministry

HRANA News Agency – Kak Hassan Amini, one of political-religious figures and religious judges in Kurdistan, said that he was banned from departing the country and was being threatened and summoned by the security authorities. This Mufti has an open court case which started in 2009 and has not been processed yet.
Kak Hassan Amini, Mufti and religious judge said to HRANA, “My court case is open since 2009 in special court for religious leaders. Each year two times the intelligence service of Sanandaj summons and interrogates me, and all the time I am being threatened by them for my religious activities”.
Mr. Amini continued, “two years ago when I arrived from Dubai, I was arrested along with my friend and my passport was seized. When I asked the reason, they said for an interview with foreign media and Noor TV, which is a cable for Sunni Muslims. My passport is seized and it is the 6th year that I am banned from departing the country. Even my Haj ticket expired”.
Mr. Amini described one of the limitation of Sunnis in Iran and said, “many times I requested for permission of a show in public television, and each time it was rejected”.
Kak Hassan Amini is a religious judge and one the political-religious figures of Kurdistan. He was arrested on July 24, 2009, but released on August 1st.
He went to Zahedan, on July 22, 2009 for graduation ceremony of Dar-Al-Oloum school and was arrested after his arrival in Sanandaj. Kak Hassan Amini has expressed some criticism regarding the reaction to political, civil rights activists and journalists during the graduation ceremony.
Mr. Amini was among the supporters of Mehdi Karrubi during the presidential elections of 2009, and member of national peace council. He has a 5 years in prison in his record, during 80s.
