Younes Azadbar Arrested in Rasht

HRANA– Yesterday, Younes Azadbar, a resident of Rasht, was arrested and transferred to one of the detention facilities in the city.

According to HRANA, Younes Azadbar has been arrested.

Mr. Azadbar was arrested this morning, Sunday, August 16, following a protest gathering by retirees in Rasht. The arrest was carried out by agents of the IRGC Intelligence Organization. Following his arrest, he was transferred to Detention Facility No. 2 in the city.

Mehrad Azadbar, Younes Azadbar’s son, stated that the case investigator has set bail at 1.5 billion tomans for his father’s release. He also said that Mr. Azadbar, who suffers from epilepsy and heart problems, has been denied access to his medications while in detention.

As of the time of this report, no information has been obtained regarding the reasons for his arrest or the charges brought against him.

Younes Azadbar, 62, is a resident of Sangar, a city in Rasht County. He has previously faced arrest and judicial convictions in connection with his activities.

Younes Azadbar Sentenced to Prison by Rasht Revolutionary Court

HRANA – Younes Azadbar, a resident of Rasht, has been sentenced to 22 months and 17 days in prison by Branch 2 of the Rasht Revolutionary Court.

According to the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations, the verdict against Mr. Azadbar was recently issued by Branch 2 of the Rasht Revolutionary Court, presided over by Mohammad-Ali Darvish-Goftar.

Mr. Azadbar was sentenced to 7 months and 16 days in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the regime” and 15 months and 1 day for “insulting the Supreme Leader.”

He had previously received a summons to appear before the same court. On August 19, 2025, he and two other citizens were also summoned to Branch 4 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Rasht to respond to related charges.

Younes Azadbar was arrested on May 5, 2025, by IRGC intelligence agents at his home and was released six days later after posting bail.

Mr. Azadbar, 62 years old and a resident of Rasht County, has previously been arrested and convicted for his activities.

Younes Azadbar Arrested by Security Forces

HRANA News Agency – Younes Azadbar, a resident of Rasht County, was arrested today by IRGC Intelligence agents and transferred to their facility for interrogation.

A source close to Azadbar’s family confirmed the news to HRANA and said: “Mr. Azadbar was arrested a few minutes ago at his home by IRGC Intelligence agents without a court warrant and was taken for questioning. At the same time, his home was searched, and personal belongings, including his mobile phone, were confiscated.”

The source added: “Mr. Azadbar is 62 years old, suffers from epilepsy, and has a mechanical heart valve and a cardiac pacemaker. His physical condition is highly concerning, and his family is worried about the impact of interrogation pressure on his health.”

He was initially arrested on July 19, 2023 and then released on bail in December 2023 to receive medical treatment.

During his previous detention, he appeared before Branch 1 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office, where he defended himself against charges including “enmity against God (moharebeh),” propaganda against the regime, and “membership in anti-government groups.”
