Naser Akbari and Taleb Bagheri Sentenced to Imprisonment and Fines on Political Charges

HRANA News Agency – The Shahin Dezh Criminal Court has sentenced two citizens, Naser Akbari and Taleb Bagheri, to 21 months of imprisonment each, in addition to monetary fines, on political charges.

According to the verdict issued by Branch 101 of the Shahin Dezh Criminal Court on March 13, 2025, both individuals were sentenced to 7 months and 16 days in prison for “propaganda against the regime” and 13 months and 17 days in prison along with a fine of 28,400,000 tomans for “spreading falsehoods online with the intent to disturb public opinion.”

The court issued the verdict against Mr. Bagheri in absentia due to his failure to appear at the hearing.

Naser Akbari, a resident of Shahin Dezh, was arrested by security forces on October 12, 2023. After four months in detention, he was released on bail. Mr. Akbari has a prior record of arrest and conviction related to his activities.

Taleb Bagheri is a resident of Parsian County in Hormozgan Province.

Four Detained in Urmia for Organizing Nowruz Celebration

On May 9, security forces in Urmia detained four individuals for reportedly organizing a Nowruz celebration, subsequently transferring them to an undisclosed location. Kolbar News identified the detainees as Othman Abbasi, Rahman Khosrawi, Heyman Alizadeh, and Shahram Soltani, all residents of Shahin Dej.

The reason cited for their arrest was the organization of a Nowruz celebration. The security agents reportedly did not present any arrest warrants at the time of the detention.
The current whereabouts of the detainees and any specific charges against them have yet to be disclosed.

Heyman Abdi Arrested in Shahin-Dej

The intelligence agents arrested Heyman Abdi, a resident of Shahin Dej, and transferred him to a detention facility in Miandoab.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Kurdpa, the intelligence agents arrested Heyman Abdi in Shahin Dej, the West Azerbaijan Province.

According to an informed source, the security forces did not show an arrest warrant and mentioned the collaboration with one of the anti-regime political parties as the reason for Abdi’s arrest.
