Two Christians Arrested in Tehran

HRANA News Agency – Security forces in Tehran, arrested a Christian couple after summoning them to the intelligence ministry. These Christians have been accused of performing according to rituals and Christianity in a funeral in Beheaht-e-Zahra.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), while a funeral was held at part 300 of Beheaht-e-Zahra on September 10, 2017, Mehrdad Houshmand and his wife Sarah Nemati participated as Christians in the ceremony.

The two Christians prayed for their ritual and recitation during the ceremony.

An informant source explained in this regard to HRANA’s reporter, “a stranger came to the scene and filmed Mr. Houshmand and his wife during the ceremony. They had demanded and recorded Mr. Houshmand’s ID after the end of the ceremony.”

According to the source, they were summoned to the intelligence ministry for recalling the documents and answering some questions the day after the ceremony.

Mehrdad Houshmand and his wife Sarah Nemati were arrested after a few hours of interrogation at the same place and then transferred to an unknown location. No information is available on the fate of these individuals after detention.
