HRANA News Agency – The case of Zine El Abidine Ghaemi, blogger, who had been sentenced to 3 years imprisonment, was sent to Birjand for a review in the revising stage.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Mr. Ghaemi was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment, in the Revolutionary Court of Ghaen, by judge Milanlooei on charges of propaganda against the regime, insulting the leadership and perturbation in public opinion on 20th May. The sentence was communicated to him on 27th May, and after his objection, the case has been sent to the appeal court in Birjand.
According to Mr. Ghaemi, he had no solicitor in the primitive and revising stages. Regarding the reason of these charges, he told HRANA’s reporter: “Because of the “Enjoining the Good” and critical letters to the leadership and the head of the Assembly of Experts and officials, that I have written in my blog or site Club, I have been charged with this allegations, however, many of these letters are later removed from the site, and the blog has been blocked and filtered and currently I have objected and I hope that this sentence will be reduced.”
The middle-aged blogger, earlier in 2008, on similar charges was tried, and after serving 22 months in prison was released. According to him, 6 months suspended imprisonment from his previous sentence was remained that by finalizing the new sentence, it will be executed as well.
Zine El Abidine Ghaemi in his defense for the Court of Appeal, has written that, his letters and literatures were his obligation and “Orders enjoining the good and forbidding the evil” and if someone who makes a mistake while he is doing his obligation, should be tried, then many civil and military leaders of the Islamic Republic should be tried because of their mistakes during their service.
