HRANA – On Wednesday, May 19, Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court announced the sentences issued for Masoumeh Yavari and Zahra Jabari.
According to Kalameh website, Masoumeh Yavari and Zahra Jabari have been sentenced to 7 and 4 years in prison, respectively.
Masoumeh Yavari is a housewife with two young children aged 4 and 11; her husband was a political prisoner in the early 1980’s. Mrs. Yavari was charged with Moharebeh (waging war against God) and the assistant prosecutor of Tehran had initially requested the death penalty for her.
Based on the order issued, Mrs. Yavari is required to spend her 7-year sentence in exile in the notorious Rajaiee Shahr prison in Karaj.
Zahra Jabari is 36 years-old and married with a small child. She was arrested on September 18, 2009 (Qods day). Like Mrs. Yavari, the assistant prosecutor had also initially charged her with Moharebeh, but that charged was rejected by the presiding judge, judge Moghiseh.
