HRANA News Agency – 12 Prisoners have been hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison of Karaj and one of the death row prisoners died after a heart attack in solitary confinement.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), these 13 prisoners had been transferred to solitary confinements on May 30th. 12 of them were hanged on June 1st but a prisoner identified as Mohammad Mirnejad died after having a heart attack in solitary confinement.

According to HRANA’s sources another death row prisoner identified as Bahman Khorram have killed an elderly prisoner whose name was Ali that a new case would be formed for him and the execution would be postponed.

During the two days before these executions, prisoners of hall number 3 of section 2 of Ghezel Hesar prison had gone on hunger strike to protest at the recent wave a mass executions.

HRANA has not been able to identify all the executed prisoners yet.

A family member of on the prisoners of Ghezel Hesar prison told HRANA’s reporter: “Ghezel Hesar prison has become a killing field and every week we get a long list of executed prisoners during our family visits. Please let the Human Rights Organizations know about this issue.”

Recently the rate of the executions have been increasing rapidly in the Ghezel Hesar prison. All these prisoners are charged with drug trafficking.
