HRANA News Agency – Hadi Asgari and Amin Afshar Naderi, two Christians and Omid Shahmoradi Sanandaji, security prisoner, ended their hunger strikes with the authorities’ favourable promises.
According to the report of Human Rights Atavists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), following the attendance of Mr. Bakhtiari, chief of the Attorney General, and Mr. Khairuddin, Deputy Attorney General, at Hall 12 of Evin prison, on February 14, 2017, and promising to solve the issues with the prisoners’ cases and advising them to end their hunger strike also warning signs of Omid Shahmoradi’d illness, this prisoner ended his hunger and medication strike, after 10 days.
It should be mentioned that Omid Shahmoradi Sanandaji has been charged with “relations with foreign governments” and since June 2012 has been held in prison including serving 7 months in solitary confinement in ward 240.
Mr. Shahmoradi earlier had written an open letter to the supervisor prosecutor at the prison, with an emphasis on “neglects by the judicial and executive institutions in his case”, and despite “frequent legal follow-up” and raising the issue by himself, his letters have been kept unanswered by the relevant authorities.
He also referred to the “injustice” towards his family, including “insulting his wife in the visiting room” and lack of response to his complaint in this regard, had declared a hunger and medicine strike.
Also, Hadi Asgari and Amin Afshar Naderi, two Christian converts imprisoned in ward 4 of Evin prison, who had gone on hunger strike, since February 5, and 11, respectively, to protest against 6 months of undecided situation, were summoned to the relevant Branch in Evin prison.
These two Christian convert prisoners ended their hunger strike when they returned to the ward, after getting the last defence, reducing the amount of the bails from 2 to 1.7 billion IRR and their case investigator’s promises to send their case as soon as possible to the court.
Mr. Asgari and Mr. Naderi were arrested along with 12 other citizens in Firoozkooh, on August 26, 2016, and for a period of 82 days were kept in solitary confinement in ward 209. They were then transferred to ward 4 in Evin prison.
