5 Arab citizens sentenced to imprisonment

HRANA News Agency – Each of 5 Arab citizens of Ahwaz have been sentenced to 6 months in prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the revolutionary court of Ahwaz has sentenced each of Habib Silahou, Habib Chayan, Hossein Chabishat, Karim Chayan and Salaheddin Chabishat to 6 months in prison.
These 5 men were arrested along with Salman Chayani and Seyed Khaled Mousavi on December 11, 2011 in Khalaf Ka’ab Moslem village of Shush and have been tortured in the intelligence detention center for months.
The branch number 4 of the revolutionary court of Ahwaz had already sentenced Seyed Khaled Mousavi and Ali Chabishat to death and Salman Chayani to 25 years in prison and exile to Yazd.
Ali Chabishat and Seyed Khaled Mousavi have been transferred from Dezful prison to an unknown location on March 18, 2014. The uthorities have not given a clear answer to their families but it is said that they have been taken for more interrogations.
Karim Dehimi, the human rights activist told HRANA: “Although the 5 men were tortured in the intelligence detention center but the agents could not get any confessions and the issued sentences are only because they are the relatives of other inmates.”
Salaheddin Chabishat is the son of death row prisoner Ali Chabishat.
