5 Political Prisoners Sent to Nowruz Furlough from Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – At least 5 political prisoners of Evin Prison named Ali Hashemi, Hadi Haidari, Keyvan Mehregan, Mostafa Tajzadeh and Mostafa Azizi  were released for Nowruz furlough. There is the possibility of more prisoners being sent to furlough.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), by the agreement of judicial and prison authorities with Nowruz furlough of a number of political prisoners in Evin Prison, at least 5 prisoners were released from the prison. It is said that there is the possibility of an increase in the number of prisoners who would go on Nowruz furlough.
Ali Hashemi, Hadi Haidari, Keyvan Mehregan, Mostafa Tajzadeh and Mostafa Azizi are the prisoners who were released from Evin Prison so far.
It should be noted, Mostafa Azizi, writer and prominent producer of television, on February 1, 2015, was arrested shortly after his return to Iran. He was sentenced to 8 years in prison in the primary court, after more than 4 months he is still waiting for the final verdict of the appeal court.
Seyed Mostafa Tajzadeh, a senior member of the Revolution Mujahedin Organization and Mosharekat Party, was arrested after the elections in 2009 on charges of gathering and colluding to disturb the national security and propaganda against the regime, and was sentenced to 6 years in prison by 15 branch of the revolutionary court presided by Judge Salavati, the verdict was upheld by the appeal court.
Keyvan Mehregan, journalist and political activist, was sentenced to one year imprisonment and 5 years deprivation of journalism, political, cultural and virtual activities on charge of “propaganda against the system” in branch 15 of the revolutionary court to presided by Judge Salavati, this forced him to go to Evin prison unexpectedly.
He was arrested in 2010 in Shargh newspaper and after nearly 2 months was released on the bail.
This documentary filmmaker also was arrested in 2013 and released after nearly a month.
Hadi Heidari have been arrested on November 16, 2015, and was transferred to 8 ward of Evin prison.
He informed his family during a phone call that he had been detained for convictions related to the previous arrests.
He had been arrested several times previously, he was arrested in Camille prayer ceremony on October 22, 2009 and transferred to ward number 209 of Evin Prison. He was released on the bail on November 9, 2009, and then was arrested on December 18, 2010 after being summoned to the court and was released On December 26, 2010, Finally, on September 26, 2012 after the publication of a cartoon in the Shargh newspaper he was summoned to the court and was released on the bail after being interrogated.
Hadi Heidari worked in newspapers such as “Jameah”, “Neshat”, Asr-e Azadegan, “Aftab-e-Emroz”, “Yas-e-No”, weekly magazine of “Asr-e-Ma”. He continued his literary work in later years as artistic director of “Mosharekat”, “Nowruz”, “Vaghaye Etefagheah”, “Etemad-e-Meli”, “Bahar” and “Poul”. Heidari managed the comic strip magazine of “Jadid” as the editor in 2010 and then worked in Shargh newspaper as the editor of service design and cartoon and recently has been working in “Shahrvand” newspaper.
Alireza Hashemi, general secretary of Teachers’ Union of Iran, was arrested on April 19, 2015 and has been transferred to Evin prison because of his 5-year sentence that had been issued in 2010.
An official of the Teachers’ Union of Iran said that gathering and colluding to disturb the national security and propaganda against the regime, were the charges of Mr. Hashemi.
It is noteworthy that Mr. Hashemi was arrested along with a group of labor activists in teachers gathered in front of the parliament on March 14, 2007. At the same time he was sentenced to 3 years in prison but the sentence against him was cancelled after he appealed.
