HRANA News Agency – Fariborz Raisdana, an economist and university professor, who referred to passport office to follow up being banned of leaving the country, was arrested and transferred to court of Evin prison by the police.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Mr. Raisdana had written on his personal page that he was arrested after a few hours and he must introduce himself to general justice deputy attorney in some days.
Fariborz Raisdana, 67, is an economist and university professor, human rights activist, former political prisoner, member of the Iranian writers’ association, socialist political activist and PHD graduated in economics from the school of economics and political science from the University of London (L.S.E).
Raisdana was arrested in his house after the TV interview in case of subsidy reform plan on December 19, 2010and was transferred to an unknown location. He was released on the bail by the end of January.
The university professor was sentenced to one year in prison on charge of propaganda against the state by the 28th branch of the revolutionary court headed by judge Moghayeseh in 2011.
In the context of a court order, “membership in the writers’ association, issuing a statement against censorship, interview with the BBC and Voice of America, and accusing the Islamic Republic of persecution of assaulting a torturing the prisoners” were announced as the reasons of the verdict.
He was arrested for one-year prison sentence on May 21, 2012 and transferred to Evin prison and was released by the end of his sentence.
