A Report on Ali Asghar Mahmoudian’s Situation in Semnan Prison

HRANA News Agency – The physical condition of “Ali Asghar Mahmoudian”, political prisoner in Semnan prison, is reported to be critical. A person close to Mr. Mahmoudian told HRANA’s reporter that, the prisoner’s legs were at risk of paralysis and inability, and despite the lack of treatment inside the prison, authorities have refused to send him on medical furlough.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), a close person to Ali Asghar Mahmoudian in an interview with HRANA said; “this political prisoner in Semnan prisoner is suffering from lumbar spine injury and should be in bed rest.”
This informed source also added: “Mahmoudian’s family is quite concerned about his health and lack of absolute rest has worsened the situation of this prisoners and the pursuit to send him on leave still remained without result”.
Ali Asghar Mahmoudian was arrested in the fall of 2009 and was charged with combat through supporting People’s Mojahedin Organization, and by Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court was sentenced to six years imprisonment and exile.
It is worth mentioning that the charge of combat is one of the compounds that according to Islamic Penal Code of 2013, has been amended and based on the principle accepted in Iranian law and international law the sentence must be changed.
This prisoner was exiled to Semnan prison on 8th June 2014.
