Amanj Vaisi; Death Row Juvenile Offender in Marivan Prison

HRANA News Agency – Amanj Vaisi, juvenile offender who was arrested and sentenced to death on charge of murder when was 15, is still being held in prison in Marivan after 10 years in the shadow of death. He is not a child any more.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Amanj Vaisi was born on July 11, 1991. When was 15 years old, he was arrested because of murdering his cousin and was later sentenced to death. He has been living on death row for 10 years so far.

One close person to him told HRANA’s reporter: “Amanj is a victim of a family conflict who has killed his cousin unwantedly and only for self-defense in 2006.”

The source also added “Amanj was held in Sanandaj prison in first six years of his sentence and then transferred to Marivan prison.”

“He was hospitalized due to intestinal problems many times and was transferred to dental practices in the city for teeth problems.” The source continued.

Amanj Vaisi was sentenced to death while according to Article 91 of the new Islamic Penal Code due to his age, the young man must be sentenced to prison and pay for the blood of the victim.
