Arash Mokri on Hunger Strike in Urmia Intelligence Service since 33 Days ago

HRANA News Agency – Arash Mokri, graduate student at the University of Tabriz, who has been detained since 24th February. It is now more than two months that he has been transferred to Urmia Intelligence Service’s solitary confinement, and it is told that he has gone on hunger strike since 33 days ago, to protest against his situation.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Arash Mokri, son of Saeid, graduate student at Tabriz University, was arrested at his home and was taken to an unknown location by the Revolutionary Guards Intelligence Office in Mahabad on 24th February, and his family was unaware of his whereabouts for a long time.

A close relative of Mokri family in an interview with HRANA said: “The family recently was informed that their child was held for more than two months in solitary confinement in Urmia Intelligence Office, however, despite several times attendance to visit Arash, they have not yet succeeded. They were told that until completion of the investigations and sending his case to the court, he would not be allowed to have any visitors.”

The source added: “Arash’s family also has understood that he has no good condition. He has gone on hunger strike since 33 days ago to protest against his uncertain condition.”

At the end he mentioned: “Mokri family were unaware of their son since late February and none of the organizations were responsive regarding his location until recently they understood that, for more than two months he had been held in Urmia Intelligence Office’s Detention Center. On May 4th, his family referred back to the department and insisted on visiting him, even his mother cried and begged them, but they have not been allowed to visit him yet.”

HRANA had previously reported that Arash Mokri son of Saeid, graduate student at Tabriz University, was arrested at his home by two cars belonged to the Revolutionary Guards Intelligence Service, on 24th February, without a warrant.

The Revolutionary Guards Intelligence Agents after arresting Mr. Mokri inspected his home and without any warrant, confiscated his belongings including his laptop, mobile phone, flash memory and some of his Kurdish books.

It is noteworthy that, several months before his arrest, the Revolutionary Guards Intelligence had summoned Arash Mokri for two times and interrogated him on accusation of holding connection with one of the Kurdish parties, opposing Islamic Republic of Iran.
