Arash Sadeghi Arrested to Serve the Sentence of 19 Years

HRANA News Agency – On June 7, Arash Sadeghi, former student activist who had showed up at Shahid Moghadas court of Evin prison to follow his case, was arrested to serve the sentence of 19 years in prison and transferred to the quarantine of ward 4 of Evin Prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), On June 7, Arash Sadeghi, former student activist who had showed up for the second time at Shahid Moghadas court of Evin prison to follow his case, was arrested to serve the sentence of 19 years in prison and transferred to the quarantine of ward 4 of Evin Prison.
A source close to Arash Sadeghi confirmed the news in an interview with HRANA’s reporter and said: “After Naveed Kamran and Behnam Mosivand had been summoned two days earlier, Arash Sadeghi who have changed his address, went to his former address and found out that the summons had been sent and were returned.”
The source added: “On June 5, Arash Sadeghi went to Shahid Moghadas court but received no reply.  On June 7, he went again and was arrested and transferred to the quarantine of ward number 4.”
It should be noted that on July 21, 2015 the second hearing of Arash Sadeghi and Golrokh Ibrahimi was held while Golrokh Ibrahimi was not present in the court because of surgery and hospitalization.
The couple are charged with collusion against the national security, sacrilege and insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Arash Sadeghi and Golrokh Ibrahimi were arrested in September 2014 at their work place. They had spent respectively 20 days and 6 months under detention and were released on the bail.
According to the verdict that some activists including Arash Sadeghi and Golrokh Ibrahimi received on August 22, 2015 at Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, Arash Sadeghi was sentenced to 15 years in prison and Golrokh Ibrahimi to 6years in prison and Navid Kamran and Behnam Mosivand were also each sentenced to 18 months in prison.
According to the appeals court and taking into account previous suspended sentences, Arash Sadeghi was sentenced to 19 years in prison and Golrokh Ibrahimi to 6 years in prison, Navid Kamran to 1 year in prison and Behnam Mosivand to 3 years in prison.
In a statement released by Amnesty International, the human rights organization considered their trial as “unfair” and called on the authorities to release them immediately.
