HRANA News Agency – A wave of mass arrests targeting Sunni Muslims in Iran saw around 20 men arrested in the city of Mahabad on Sunday 5 October, the day Iran celebrated Eid al-Adha.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the group of men, which included Sunni preachers and activists, were rounded up throughout the day by Iranian security forces before being taken to an unknown location. There is no news about the charges the men face.
So far it has been confirmed that three Sunni activists, Salar Saeedi, Shorosh Aainah and Mohammad Modarresi, were among the men arrested.
