HRANA – Artin Ghazanfari, a Baha’i citizen and photojournalist currently held in Greater Tehran Prison, has been sentenced to a total of 26 years in prison by Judge Abolghasem Salavati. Ghazanfari’s physical condition has also been reported as poor.
Under a verdict issued by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolghasem Salavati, and communicated to him on Monday, Artin Ghazanfari was sentenced to a total of 26 years in prison.
An informed source close to Ghazanfari’s family told HRANA: “Mr. Ghazanfari was sentenced to 20 years in prison on the charge of ‘media-related activities,’ five years for ‘assembly and collusion against national security,’ and one year for ‘propaganda against the regime.’ Although the punishment for the first charge was stated to be 10 years in prison, the judge imposed a 20-year sentence by invoking the Law on Intensifying Punishment for Espionage.”
According to information obtained by HRANA, Ghazanfari’s physical condition has been reported as poor due to several medical conditions, including heart failure, asthma, and high blood pressure. Despite prison medical staff emphasizing the necessity of transferring him to medical facilities outside the prison, he continues to be denied access to specialized medical treatment outside the prison due to opposition from the judge overseeing his case.
