Aso Rostami Transferred to a Hospital Outside Prison

HRANA New Agency – Aso Rostami, civil activist in ward 8 of Evin prison, was transferred to a hospital outside the prison due to severe lung infection and bleeding.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), he was transferred on Tuesday 21st July, and despite the incompletion of the treatment, Aso Rostami was sent back to the prison after couple of hours, while he still needed to get treatment.
This human rights activist, had coughed up blood since early July, following deterioration in his respiratory problems, so that one of his relatives told HRANA: “Aso’s respiratory problems have intensified since 15th June, so that he had to use oxygen cylinder to breath, also constantly he is coughing up blood, but after two weeks suffering from this condition, for the first time he was seen by a doctor and when Aso requested to send him to A&E in a hospital, he said; ‘“I” will decide if you need to go to hospital, not you.’”
Aso Rostami, 28, was arrested on Wednesday 8th October after holding a rally in front of the United Nations office in Tehran in support of the Kobani along with several other civil activists, and after being held in solitary confinement and being interrogated for a period of time, was transferred to ward 8 of Evin prison.
He was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment due to his peaceful civil activities on charges of propaganda against the regime, gathering and collusion against the national security, and insulting the Leadership, while his trial along with three other civil activists, took less than fifteen minutes, in  Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court, presided by Judge Moghiseh, and they were sentenced to a total of 38 years imprisonment.
Cyber activities, publicizing critical articles about human rights situation and executions in Iran, empathy and solidarity with the families of political prisoners and families of death row prisoners, participating in a rally to support Kobani, sympathy with the families of the victims of the events of 2009 and communication with human rights activists, are the persecutor’s evidences for the allegations against this civil activist.
Aso Rostami is now in his tenth month of detention in ward 8 of Evin prison pending the outcome of the appeal court. Ward 8 of Evin prison is one of the worst wards, and is known as the exile ward in Tehran province for the political prisoners.
