Ali Akbar Baghani Transferred to Ward 12 of Rajai Shahr Prison

HRANA News Agency – Ali Akbar Baghani, imprisoned teacher and deputy director of the Teachers’ Union, has been transferred to hall 12, the political-security prisoners’ ward in Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), this imprisoned teacher was held in the ward of general crime prisoners, in ward 3 of Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj, before being transferred to hall 12 of this prison.

Ali Akbar Baghani, deputy director of the Iranian Teachers’ Union, was arrested on 25th May this year, when he presented himself at Evin prison’s Court, and was transferred to Rajai Shahr prison to serve his sentence.

It is to say that, in 2010 and after the Central Council’s meeting, Mr. Esmail Abdi was arrested in the Department of Education Branch in Islam Shahr, Mahmoud Beheshti Langroodi and Ali Akbar Baghani were arrested in Tehran, and all of them were transferred to ward 209 in Evin prison. Each of them was held in solitary confinement for about a month in Evin prison, ward 209, and then they were released on heavy bails.

Ali Akbar Baghani, deputy director of the Iranian teachers’ Union, was sentenced to one year imprisonment and 10 years exile to Zabul for his case in 2010, by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court, presided by Judge Pir-Abbasi, on charge of propaganda against the regime.

His sentence of 5 years imprisonment for his case in 2006, regarding the teachers gathering in front of the Parliament, was added to this 1 year imprisonment after this new case was upheld at the Court of Appeal, so that he has to endure 6 years imprisonment and 10 years exile to Zabul for his 2 cases.
