Two Political Prisoners in Evin Transferred to Hospital

HRANA News Agency – Political prisoners Kobra Amirkhizi and Hussein Ronaghi Maleki were transferred to hospital for urgent medical care.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Hussein Ronaghi Maleki has suffered internal bleeding of kidneys and taken to Hasheminejad Hospital in Tehran.Although this political prisoner has several times been transferred to a hospital outside the prison for infection of and bleeding from kidneys, the authorities refuse to grant him furlough for medical care.
Moreover, Kobra Amirkhizi has undergone an eye operation in Labafinejad Hospital.She was then returned to Evin prison following this surgery.Because of the insanitary condition in prison, this political prisoner is in danger of acquiring an eye infection.However, prison officials refuse to acknowledge such a possibility.
 

More Than Fifty Baha’i Citizens Imprisoned in Iran

HRANA News Agency – While in various international gatherings and interviews conducted with foreign media, Iranian government officials continue to claim that no one is imprisoned in Iran because of their beliefs, according to official statistics, there are more than 50 Baha’i citizens either temporarily detained or serving prison terms in various cities throughout Iran.Additionally, there is at least the same number of Baha’i citizens waiting to be tried or sentenced in different cities all over the country.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), in various cities including Tehran, Karaj, Esfahan, Shiraz, Semnan, Mashhad, Urmia, Tabriz, Pars Abad, Ghaem Shahr, Babol, Sari, Kerman, Rafsanjan, Sanandaj, Yasuj and Kermanshah, there are a large number of Baha’i citizens who are in a legal state of limbo with their future uncertain.

All of these Baha’i citizens have been arrested, charged or convicted of propaganda against the regime by the virtue of their Baha’i faith or acting against the national security through attending religious Baha’i gatherings, membership in Baha’i organizations, managing Baha’i communities in cities or the whole country, or defending the rights of Baha’i citizens in Iran.

Baha’i citizens who are imprisoned in Iran’s official prisons or the detention centers operated by the Intelligence Agency include:

Postpone of Habibullah Latifi’s execution

HRANA News Agency – in agreement with the promise given to the family and protesters in front of Sanandaj prison, family of Habib Latifi met with him in the prison.
According to HRANA Reporters, The family of this prisoner who was waiting from 5am in front of the prison for the head of the prison to keep his promise was able to meet Habib Latifi at 9 am in the prison.

During brief talk with Elaheh Latifi (sister of Habib Latifi) to HRANA; she thanked and congratulate the Iranian people and confirmed the news of the political prisoner’s execution postpone.


Habib Latifi is the student of Eylam University- industrial engineering was detained on Oct.23rd 2007 and tried by the Revolutionary Court on 2008 and sentenced to death on charges of waging war against god and corruption on earth.
The Judiciary system announced that the sentence issued based on the sound bomb explosion recorded on mobile device and his confession, while Habib denied all allegations in the court and claimed that confessions obtained under torture.

 

Jahangir Mahmoudi Arrested for Defending Political Prisoners

HRANA- Officials from the Special Clerical Court have stated that Jahangir Mahmoudi was arrested as a result of his intentions to represent a number of political prisoners.

HRANA has learned that on Tuesday morning Jahangir Mahmoudi’s spouse traveled to the 3rd Circuit of the Special Clerical Court in Isfahan where she was informed that her husband was being charged for accepting to defend political prisoners.Mr. Mahmoudi’s spouse reports that her husband is in good spirits after visiting with him.He was transferred yesterday to Isfahan Prison.

The execution of 10 men is so closed

HRANA News Agency – The execution of 10 men who were transferred to Evin prison on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 is so closed.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), 10 men sentenced to death with charge of drug trafficking who were transferred from Ghezelhesar prison to Ward 240 of Evin prison on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 will be executed so soon.

No News on the Condition of Jailed Blogger Rojin Mohammadi

HRANA News Agency – Although one week has passed since Rojin Mohammadi was arrested upon arriving in Iran, nothing is known about her current condition.Rojin Mohammadi is a blogger and medical student at the University of Manila (UM) in Philippines.

It has been reported that Rojin Mohammadi is currently being held in solitary confinement in Ward 2A of Evin Prison.This ward is under the control of Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution (IRGC).Thus far, Rojin Mohammadi has been denied access to an attorney and also phone calls or visits with her family.

Iranian judicial and security officials refuse to disclose to her family where in Evin Prison Rojin Mohammadi is being held.Other reports indicate that the prosecutor at the 3rd branch of Evin Court has charged Rojin Mohammadi with conspiracy against national security and propaganda against the regime by the means of human rights activism.

Nine days ago, on November 14, 2011, Rojin Mohammadi flew from Istanbul to Tehran.Upon arriving at Imam Khomeini Airport, she was arrested by Iranian security agents and taken to Evin Prison.She was then released on bail after being detained for 24 hours.Five days later, on November 19, 2011, security agents raided her father’s house in Kermanshah in order to arrest her again.However, since she was not home at the time of the raid, the police failed to take her into custody.

On November 21, 2011, Rojin Mohammadi was summoned by phone to Shahid Moghadasi Court in Evin Prison, and her personal belongings including a computer were confiscated.She was interrogated for 3 consecutive days and finally arrested again on November 23, 2011 and locked up behind bars in Evin Prison.
