Bedbugs Have Put Prisoners of Ward 8 of Evin Prison in a Difficult Situation

HRANA News Agency – Bedbug bites and insect stings have exhausted prisoners in ward 8 of Evin prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), bedbug bites and insect stings are hurting prisoners in ward 8 of Evin prison and have become a new problem in this ward.
According to this report, quoting informed sources of HRANA, Hossein Rafiei and Amir Amirgholi, two prisoners of this ward, who have been bitten by ticks in and are not in a good condition.
HRANA’s sources also reported that after the prisoners’ protest and despite the prison authorities promise for spraying, nothing has been done yet.
The same sources say that the prisoners are forced to protect themselves against the insects, by ordering the prison shop for venom on their personal costs.
Bedbug insect or bug known as “real Dracula”, survives by using human and warm-blooded animals’ blood.
Earlier also there were some news published about “shortage of hot water in ward 8 of Evin prison” and “a viral poisoning” in this ward that made the families of prisoners extremely concerned about the health condition of their beloved ones in this ward.
Ward 8 has been described as the “worst ward of Evin prison”, and the “new exile for Evin prison’s political prisoners” in which a large number of political and security prisoners, are being held in a congestion and poor conditions of health facilities with non-political prisoners and frequent protests by prisoners and their families have not achieved anything yet.
Most of the prisoners who have been detained after the elections in 2013 are held in ward 8, and a large number of prisoners have been moved from ward 350 into this ward.
