Behnam Ebrahimzadeh Deprived Of Medical Treatment In Rajai Shahr Prison

HRANA News Agency – The neck arthritis and lumbar disc disease of Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, a labor activist and political prisoner, cannot be cured inside the prison and he is not even allowed to have access to a doctor and medication.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, labor activist and political prisoner in Rajai Shahr prison, who has got neck arthritis and lumbar disc diseases is not getting the treatment and has no access to medication for his pain, and despite the prison doctor’s advise for a surgery, the permission for being sent to the hospital, is not given by the head of Rajai Shahr prison.

This labor activist who recently faced a complaint lodged by one of the prison directors and a new case was opened for him, in prison, earlier was sentenced to seven years and ten months and eighteen days imprisonment. According to the informed sources, this sentence has not been notified to this political prisoner and labor activist yet.

It is to say that Behnam Ebrahimzadeh is being held in hall 5 of ward 2 in Rajai Shahr prison, known as “Dar al Quran” with dangerous prisoners.

Behnam Ebrahimzadeh who has been held in prison for more than 5 years, following a retrial in December last year and in the first instance was sentenced to another 9 and a half years imprisonment. This political prisoner’s court verdict was reduced to 7 years and 10 months and 18 days, after being revised and finalized.

Behnam Ebrahimzadeh is one of the labor activists and children’s rights activists. He has been held in prison since 2010 and he was initially sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in court and his sentence was reduced on the appeal stage to five years imprisonment.
