HRANA News Agency – Human Rights Activist Association of Iran has published the booklet of “Mine, the Silent Killer of Iranians”. This book is the first of its kind in terms of accuracy and inclusiveness. The booklet is in 50 pages and provides information, statistics, pictorial reports about Mine contaminated areas in Iran, civilian victims, militaries and Mine sweeping unites from 1988 to 2012.
According to HRANA report, the booklet reports a death toll of 8034 for civilian victims at 5 states during the last 24 years by Mine explosion. 690 of these victims were females. In addition, 153 military and Mine sweeping units’ personnel were killed while sweeping Mines in the last 6 years.
