HRANA News Agency – A group of civil rights activists who had planned to attend the anniversary of Mostafa Karimbeigi were arrested by security officers. Nasrin Sotoudeh, Narges Mohammadi, and Reza Khandan were among those arrested.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on 26th December, a group of civil rights activists planning to attend the anniversary of Mostafa Karimbeigi (one of Green movement’s members who were killed in Ashura 2009), in Shahriar, were arrested by security forces.
Ammar Maleki, son of doctor Maleki, wrote on his Facebook: “Today – 26th December 2014 – On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the martyrdom of Mostafa Karimbeigi – one of those who were killed in 2009 – a ceremony was supposed to be held at Shahriar. My father called me and said on the way towards Shahriar, a car belonging to Intelligence Ministry pulled our car over and arrested all 5 people in the car. Doctor Mohammad Maleki was detained from 12 to 5 p.m. in the Intelligence service office and was released just a few minutes ago. According to the latest news, so far, Ms. Narges Mohammadi and Mrs. Nasrin Sotoudeh and Mr. Reza Khandan (Mrs. Sotoudeh’s husband) along with another group are still in custody of Intelligence service office.”
An informed source told HRANA’s reporter, “All the detainees were released after a few hours.”
