Esmail Barzegari On Hunger Strike In Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Esmail Barzegari, political prisoner in ward 7 of Evin prison, has gone on hunger strike to protest against not implementing his freedom order.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Esmail Barzegari has gone on hunger strike since September 9th to protest against not implementing the decision of the Court of Appeal.
This prisoner of ward 7 of Evin prison was acquitted of espionage by the Court of Appeal and his sentence of 7 years imprisonment was reduced to two and a half years. According to this provision and spending more than four years in prison, Esmail Barzegari must be released.
Esmail Barzegari, Azerbaijani dentist and musician, was arrested in Tabriz in May 2011 and was transferred to ward 209 of Evin Prison. After being held for seven months in solitary confinement of ward 209 he was transferred to ward 350 in January 2012.
Barzegari is held at the moment in ward 7 in Evin prison. Previously he had been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment on charge of spying and after he was acquitted of this charge by the Court of Appeal, his sentence was commuted to two and a half years.
