Hasan Taffah, 7 Years Imprisonment Without Medical Treatment

HRANA News Agency – After seven years from the arrest of Hasan Taffah, Iraqi lawyer, this 86-year-old prisoner of Rajaei Shahr prison is suffering from different diseases including blood cancer, while he has been deprived of furlough since 2013.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Hasan Taffah, 86, Iraqi lawyer and prisoner of Rajaei Shahr is serving his 7th years in prison while despite suffering from different diseases he has been deprived of a complete medical furlough.
The wife of this prisoner of Rajaei Shahr in a conversation with HRANA’s reporter, emphasized on his age and his diseases including cancer and said that he needed to be hospitalized outside of prison medical. “I asked for an order to perform the required examinations, but the permission is being denied by the judiciary and security authorities.”
She stated he had been transferred to the hospital but only one examination was carried out and the rest were left. She also emphasized that under the condition of receiving a furlough, remained examinations could be done; but every time after the transfer to a hospital, only one examination is done and then he would be transferred to the prison again.
According to her, the exemption from serving sentence is issued by the forensic and she has taken it to the persecutor’s office. She said that the persecutor is delegating the responsibility to the court and under the acceptance of the court the sentence would change. But she did not know if the persecutor would actually do something or not.
Hasan Tafah was transferred to the hospital after passing out, due to severe anemia, on September 24.
Previously Imam Khomaini hospital had not accepted this prisoner. Previous reports stated that the condition of this prisoner was very critical due to his severe weakness, blood cancer and physical condition.
Hasan Tafah, Iraqi lawyer and a member of international bar association was arrested by the security forces in 2008 and charged with espionage and propaganda against the regime, in branch number 15 of the revolutionary court and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
