HRANA News Agency – Ahmed Shaheed, the United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran, in his eleventh report to the UN human rights council, announced: “in 2015 Islamic republic of Iran have had the highest number of executions within the past 10 years.”

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran in the 31st session of the UN human rights council meeting, has announced that “the human right organizations that are following the executions in Islamic Republic of Iran, have estimated the number of executions in Iran to have been between 966 to 1054 within 2015, which is the highest number of executions in the past decade.”

Mr. Ahmed Shaheed, in his last report, has called the increasing number of executions between April to June 2015 “especially alarming”, as he announced “this means on average “four executions per day” in these 3 months.”

Ahmed Shaheed’s advice to Iran included: “ending execution of juvenile offenders; to give an official deadline for re-evaluating executions of convictions that are not considered “serious crimes” by international standards; and to ban “stoning and public executions”.

Increasing oppression of Bahais, lack of organized civic activism, lack of access to a fair trial for the defendants, confessions extracted under torture, neglect of the minorities rights etc. are a few of the human rights violations that have been emphasized in other parts of this 22-page report.
