A Journalist Detained and Interrogated for Several Hours

HRANA News Agency – A correspondent was arrested and interrogated for 7 hours in the building of Tehran Municipality.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Ferortish Rezvanieh had announced on his page that he had introduced him to the guards of both buildings of Municipality of District 3 and they allowed him to enter the building with his camera, but a few minutes later an arrest warrant for him on charge of lack of coordination with public relations of Tehran Municipality for entering into the building, was issued.
According to the witnesses, Rezvanieh was arrested for 6 hours and spent half of the time being tied to a chair with a metal bracelet and had no right to use his mobile phone. His equipment was also immediately seized and all pictures in the camera’s memory were deleted.
In the past week Rezvanieh who had contacted the 137 to pursue the repair of a dangerous pit in the middle of the sidewalk but his contacts were not addressed so he went to the Municipality of District 3 to prevent the possible accidents but was arrested there.
Although he had faced heavy charges in the interrogations but the Legal Department of Municipality was not informed of his arrest for 6 hours and then the representative of the department was sent to the detention center to inquire about the details of the incident.
Rezvanieh was then transferred to Gandhi police station where he signed a statement saying that he should have not recorded a video in the affiliated buildings without coordination with the public relations of Tehran Municipality.
The reason of arresting a correspondent as a criminal by safeguarding of Municipality of District 3 is a questionable and rare matter.
On the other hand, it should be noted that guards of the building had good behavior with Rezvanieh who had taken the camera against them and no one had prevented the correspondent or asked him for a license.
