A Juvenile Offender at the Risk of Execution

HRANA News Agency – The danger of execution threatens Himan Ouraminejad, juvenile offender in Sanandaj prison. After the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence, the verdict has been sent to the executive branch in the prison. His death sentence has been confirmed in the Supreme Court and is waiting for the permission of head of judiciary to be executed. According to an informed source, the forensic has just asked him few questions and the actual scientific tests were not carried out about him.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Himan Ouraminejad is born in 1994 and by the time he committed the crime in 2010, he was under 18.

A close source to the prisoner told HRANA’s reporter: “The forensic has just asked him few questions and the actual scientific tests were not carried out about Himan, his death sentence has been confirmed in the Supreme Court and is waiting for the permission of head of judiciary to be executed.”

According to article 91 of the Islamic Penal Code, when the individual is under 18 or do not understand the nature of the crime, or the growth of their brain could be questioned, the death retribution will not be applied.

Himan Ouraminejad is waiting for execution while some time ago the death penalty of Siavosh Mahmoodi, another death row juvenile offender in Sanandaj prison was declined to 5 years in prison and payment of the blood money in the Supreme Court.

It is worth noting, Amnesty International has called on the Iranian authorities to stop this verdict immediately.
