Koorosh Zaeim Sent to Furlough

HRANA News Agency – Koorosh Zaeim, senior political prisoner and member of central council of National Front of Iran was sent to a 6-day furlough. In another news Omid Alishenas, civil rights activist returned to prison after the end of his furlough.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Kooroush Zaeim, 77, political prison of ward number 8 of Evin prison has been sent to a 6-day furlough.
Mr. Zaeim is serving his 4 years of imprisonment sentence in this prison.
HRANA had previously reported that this political prisoner required surgery operation of both eyes for his cataracts problem. During his imprisonment his illness got worse.
Mr. Zaeim is diagnosed with distorted and infection in sinus and has been monitored continuously by physicians for some years. His hernia problem has spread to the left side and it is inflated, which required surgery operation as well. His teeth are not fine either. He constantly suffers from toothache.
Another problem of this senior prisoner is his blood concentration.
This political prisoner was sentenced to one year in prison by Judge Salavati in branch number 15 of revolutionary court, on charge of propaganda against the regime.
Mr. Zaeim is a writer, translator and member of central council of National Front and has multiple arrests and imprisonments on his record.
Previously judge Mashallah Ahadzadeh in branch number 14 of the revolutionary court of Tehran had sentenced Koorosh Zaeim to conditional three years in prison and 5 years deprivation from political activities on charges of acts against the national security, propaganda against the regime, and accumulation of number of arrests in 1982, 2006, 2009 and 2010, but due to his age the sentence was postponed for 5 years.
Several works of this writer and researcher in the fields of science, such as “Khod Amouz Sakhteman”, “Ketabdasti Riyaziat”, “Rahborde Zendehmani”, “Zist energy” and historical books such as: “Bozorgane Kashan”, “Empratori Shoravi be koja miravad?”And “Tarikhcheh Jebheye Melli az Peidayesh ta Kodataye 28 Mordad” have been released. Several literary works, including “Freedom and responsibility of intellectuals” by Karl Popper has been translated by him. Kourosh Zaim, by establishing a center of thought and speech, and with researching in the fields of economy, agriculture and industry also worked as a researcher.
In another news, Omid Alishenas, civil rights activist returned to prison by the end of his furlough. Mr. Alishenas was sent to furlough on March 20, from Evin prison.
It should be noted that Omid Alishenas had been arrested on September 4, 2014, and was transferred to ward 2-A of the IRGC and although a bail of 100 million IRR had been issued, the prosecutor refused to accept the bail for unknown reasons. He had been transferred to Evin prison at the end of the interrogations.
This activist was released on the bail from Evin prison, after sixteen months of imprisonment on January 18, 2016.
Mr. Alishenas had been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the primitive court, presided by judge Moghiseh, and the sentence was reduced to 7 years on the appeal court.
In Branch 36 of the Tehran Appeals Court, the sentences of four civil activists; Atena Daemi, Omid Alishenas, Asuo Rostami and Ali Noori, respectively 14, 10, 7 and 7 years imprisonment, were reduced to 7, 7, 2 and 2 years imprisonment.
The civil activist, was arrested by the Sarallah Guards’ agents and was transferred to Evin prison to serve his 7 years imprisonment sentence.
