HRANA News Agency – Mehdi Farahi Shandiz, political prisoner in Rajai Shahr Prison, in Karaj, was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment for the third time with the quite similar charges, in fact, first two times were during his imprisonment, and in this way, he should spend 9 years in prison.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), regarding the court verdict, issued on 26th May, Mehdi Farahi Shandiz was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment by the branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court, presided by Judge Moghiseh, on charges of insulting the Supreme Leader, and disturbing public order, and this is despite the fact that he has not been informed about the Court hearing, and also the decision was not delivered to prisoner or the prisoner’s lawyer, and was directly stated on the prisoners situation statement.

Based on one of HRANA’s legal advisers, usually prisoner’s sentence would not be stated in prisoners case statement,  before the final verdict, and considering the date of issuance and the fact that prisoner was not informed of his sentence, apparently, the decision is finalized and he also has lost the opportunity to appeal and review.

This prisoner was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment, in February last year, by the Branch 15 of Revolution Court, presided by Judge Salvati, on charges of insulting the leadership and disturbing public order and earlier, in May 2011 with the same charges was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment by Judge Moghiseh.

Regarding his first trial on charges of insulting the leadership, he told HRANA: “Two of the court doormen were used as witness and they told that he has broken a glass while chanting “Down with Khamenei”.

Mehdi Farahi Shandiz, with a history of numerous arrests, on 1st May, in International Workers’ Day, was arrested in Park La’leh, in Tehran, and security officers searched and confiscated his documents, personal belongings and books and following this detention, he was sentenced to 9 months imprisonment and spent most of it in solitary confinements in ward 209 of Evin prison and was released in February 2009.

Mr. Shandiz, last time, after repeated attempts to get his confiscated stuff and documents from the Revolutionary Court such as; (passport, birth certificate, National ID card, computer, etc.), was prevented from entering the offices and when resisted, they arrested him and in branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court on charges of insulting the leadership and disturbing public order. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison. Although, his first 3 year-imprisonment-sentence, has been finished on 25th November 2014, but the new cases, prevented him from being released.
