Mehdi Khodaei Released from Evin Prison after Serving more than 5 Years

HRANA News Agency – Mehdi Khodaei, human rights activist, was released from prison, after five and a half years of imprisonment.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Mehdi Khodaei was released from ward 350 of Evin prison, on Sunday 5th July, after his sentence ended by applying the Article 134, while he had been kept about 6 months more than his legal imprisonment sentence.

Mehdi Khodaei is a former student activist and secretary of the Islamic Association of Shahre Rey University and a member of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, who was arrested in 2008 and 2009, by the Ministry of Intelligence and Revolutionary Guards Intelligence Service and subsequently in two separate cases on charges of Gathering and Collusion, Propaganda against the regime and human rights activities, was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment, in total. He has been held in Evin prison, since 2nd March 2010.

During this five years and a half imprisonment and  despite all the restriction and various pressures, he had not suspended his activities and by translation, research works, organizing and participating in various lessons, has continued his activities and gaining deeper knowledge by himself and other prisoners regarding the human rights issues.
