A Prisoner Sentenced to Death after 7 Years of Detention

HRANA News Agency – A prisoner was sentenced to imprisonment and death, by judge’s acquaintance, on charge of murder and armed robbery, after 7 years of being in an undecided condition in Sanandaj. In Iran’s law, “judge’s acquaintance” does not necessarily need considering evidences and documented events.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Shouresh Moradi, son of Ahmad, who has spent more than 7 years in central prison of Sanandaj in an undecided condition, on charge of armed robbery and murder, was sentenced to death by “judge’s acquaintance”.

Branch number one of criminal court of Sanandaj, sentenced this prisoner to 15 years imprisonment and death.

A close source to Mr. Moradi told HRANA’s reporter, “Shouresh had an assistant according to the case, who is free now. Two guns were found and based of forensic report both were shot. Forensic report and related documents are mentioned in the case, but the only thing that was referred was judge’s acquaintance”.

Judge acquaintance is defined as confidence of the judge regarding the state of allegation.
