Akbar Amini Armaki

HRANA News Agency – After more than two years of the detention of Akbar Amini Armaki political prisoner in ward 350 of Evin prison, the court’s final decision is undetermined yet.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), after Akbar Amini was sentenced for the second time, while he was in the prison, to 5 years imprisonment, in February 2014, his lawyers appealed and called for the integration of the crime but the result of this request has not been determined yet.

In February this year, Akbar Amini’s lawyer was notified of a new sentence, which made his sentence up to ten years. Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, presided by Judge Salvati notified Akbar Amini of a 5-year-imprisonment sentence, 3 years of which were from the last detention in June 2013, and the other 2 years were suspended sentence from his first detention in July 2009, which had been finalized then.

Amini Armaki was charged in both cases with “gathering and collusion against national security”. Akbar Amini Armaki’s last session of the trial was held on 29th December where his lawyers emphasized on the need to integrate the cases of this political prisoner and avoiding repetitive sentences, at their defense.

This primitive verdict was issued, and his lawyers objected so his case was referred to Branch 36 of the appeal court, which was presided by judge Zargar, while he was in ward 350 of Evin prison due to the court verdict of 5 years imprisonment sentence on charge of gathering and collusion against national security based on the case of “Saraye Ghalam” in November 2012, which was issued by judge Salavati.

This political prisoner has been tried three times during our years on charges of gathering and collusion against national security and sentenced to ten years imprisonment, in total.

This Green movement activist was arrested for the last time, on 7th June 2013, just a few days before the elections in 2013, and experienced more than 92 days in solitary confinement and interrogations under pressure in the summer of 2013. He was arrested several times over the years, which is known mainly due to his bold action on 14th February 2010 in raising green flags on top of a crane in front of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran.
